Why ROCKWOOL for ETICS

ROCKWOOL insulation products provide the best solution for ETICS in all buildings types. The insulation has many unique elements above the thermal benefits.

Fire
Fire
ROCKWOOL insulation is A1 class material suitable for all building heights and type. Regulations related to fire are important to be considered during design. Only stone wool can offer a completely safe building in relation to fire. For more information please click here
Acoustics
Acoustics
Noise in the environment or community seriously affects people, interfering with the daily activities at school or work and at home and during leisure time. Many homeowners suffer from noisy neighbours as their properties are insufficiently sound proofed. ROCKWOOL stone wool products are among the most used and most effective acoustic insulators used in construction.

Dimensional Stability
Dimensional Stability
ROCKWOOL insulation is dimensionally stable: it just keeps performing, decade after decade. The unique physical structure of ROCKWOOL stone wool keeps its shape and toughness, and it is not affected by changes in temperature or humidity. ROCKWOOL insulation can be used even under extreme conditions because it retains its insulation properties in both very low (e.g. oxygen installations) and very high (up to 1000°C) temperatures.
Breathability
Breathability
ROCKWOOL’s high vapour permeability guarantees a comfortable interior climate. The walls can breathe. The diffusion resistance of ROCKWOOL insulation materials corresponds to that of still air. Because of this, ROCKWOOL insulation does not trap moisture but helps release it. Moisture and nutrients are necessary conditions for mould growth. Since more than 95% of ROCKWOOL insulation products are made up of inorganic fibres, there is minimum nutrient source to allow fungal growth. Find out more here
Water repellence
Water repellence
It is well known, that moisture inside insulation reduces thermal conductivity performance. When exposed to water or rain, ROCKWOOL stone wool can sometimes look like it is wet throughout. In fact water does not penetrate the products. It is only the surface which gets wet, and subsequently dries out, because the fibres of ROCKWOOL stone wool are water repellent.
The impregnation of ROCKWOOL stone wool fibres to ensure water repellency is throughout the products, not just on the surface. This is one reason why water cannot get into the core of ROCKWOOL slabs other than by the use of increased pressure. Even if water is experimentally pressed into the core of a ROCKWOOL product, after a certain time the water evaporates and the fibres dry out, as the material itself is highly diffusion open. After drying out, the ROCKWOOL slab completely recovers its thermal conductivity properties being the same as it was before the contact with water or moisture Find out more here
